In Business Tips for Success

Having coached a lot of solo/entrepreneurs and, as well as being an entrepreneur myself, I’ve learnt over the years that to realize your vision of becoming a successful online business owner requires, not only belief in yourself and your abilities, but a fusion of skills and steps, of which the most important, in my opinion, is taking ‘Action.’ No amount of passion, talent, skill, education, experience, etc. will do you any good until you take action to get things done, even if it is imperfect action.

Another thing I’ve learnt is that you’ve got to be quick on the uptake and move with haste, and I don’t mean rush into things, or be impatient. Success loves speed, someone quoted. I agree with that, because we live in a fast-moving world and it’s essential to take action to get the results you want.

If you don’t, well, you know what’ll happen and you’ll struggle with self-doubt. Taking action builds experience and boosts your confidence. It also allows you to discover untapped resources and information that will contribute to your success.

Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world. ~Joel A. Barker Click To Tweet

Your time on our beautiful earth is limited. You never know what’s going to happen a month or a year from now and you might never get a second chance.

Getting started is often the hardest, but once you take that first step, you’ll question why you didn’t sooner, because it actually wasn’t hard after all.

The outcome may or may not work out, but it will lead to something new. Think of it as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Now, I know there’s one hundred and one other distractions that’s fighting for your attention, not to mention the 6,000+ thoughts going through your head daily (you read that right), many of which drains your energy and leads to inaction. One solution is to outsource.

Hand with a pen - Outsourcing

Some Things You Can Contract Out

  • Hire a cleaner to come in once a month if household chores are not your thing.
  • Hire out the bookkeeping to an accountant or CPA. It will take him an hour, whereas it would take you four.
  • Seek out the best and invest in their support that will propel you to where you want to go.

For instance, start working with a coach. You’ll have someone to be accountable to and bounce off ideas. Doing so will help you stay focused. If you’re not focused and you procrastinate, or over analyze, that’s a recipe for lost time and in some cases, failure.

The point here is, hire out those tasks that suck your energy and creativity.

It’s important to be in the now to make progress. Many of us strive for perfection at the outset, forgetting that we can fine tune the product (book, course, website, etc.) after it’s done. Without action, there won’t be any product.

Most importantly, don’t give up. Sometimes you’ll feel as if you’re taking one step forward and ten steps back, because you’ll encounter challenges, of course. But stay focused, be persistent and you’ll handle the challenge.

The steps you take will bring results, so keep doing it. Then do it some more and when you look back, you’ll see the results, and that’s the pay off.

Remember, no effort is wasted. So, take action, even if it’s imperfect.

Great suggestions, Cherry-Ann! We all have energy drains. Identifying them and dealing with them will definitely help us to achieve our goals. I really like your idea about outsourcing. My husband used to spend a crazy amount of time doing our taxes. When he finally agreed to hire an accountant it paid off in more ways than we anticipated. It did relieve stress and anxiety, but she also saved us a lot of money.

Thanks Victoria. Yes, many people hesitate to outsource, because they focus on the cost. But it’s one of the best investments for any biz owner.

Love that quote and was happy to tweet it! And I agree on the importance of taking action, and not trying to wait until it’s perfect. I say to myself “done is better than perfect,” a lot.
