Empowering, positive thoughts can enhance your life in so many ways, i.e., get rid of/minimize stress, live a healthier life and make better choices. Now we know this mindset shift can also add years to your life.

A 2019 study found that positive thinking can result in an 11–15% longer lifespan and a stronger likelihood of living to age 85 or older.

While that’s all nice and dandy,  I don’t subscribe to walking around with a forced smile when or after you’ve experienced something that’s shattered your nervous system, or when something royally pissed you off, or you just feel downright shitty, for whatever reason… maybe no reason.

What I do believe is that one should acknowledge their feelings and go through the process to heal from the experience. Now, if you get stuck in a low vibration, or you cannot figure out why you feel blah, or if you’re thinking negatively – your inner critic is working overtime, there’re ways you can change your thought pattern to get on the path to positive thinking.

Be aware that your experiences are shaped by your thinking. Even obstacles have a value when you can see it, but you can develop convictions that will help you to feel happier and achieve more, regardless of the situation. So, consider the following sixteen empowering positive thoughts and beliefs you can implement now to transform your thinking.

Empowering Thoughts And Beliefs To Make You Smile

Recognize your potential. You can achieve amazing results when you put your mind to it. So, feel excited about reaching your true potential.

Count your blessings. List each thing that you have to be grateful for and remember to include small items such as having warm socks. Expressing your appreciation for things no matter how small, reminds you of the rich life you have.

Learn from your mistakes. Make setbacks work for you by focusing on the lessons they contain. Flubbing one marketing campaign can teach you how to ace the next one.

Find meaning in adversity. Tough times can be the most rewarding phase of your life, though you would not think so at those times. But know that you can emerge from any challenge with greater wisdom and courage. Review obstacles you overcame, you’ll be reassured that you can handle anything.

Embrace change. Accept that life is a series of ups and downs. Focus on the present and adapt to circumstances.

Dream big. Expand your wish list. Setting attainable goals gives you adventures to look forward to each day.

Practice forgiveness. Lighten your load by clearing away any resentment you’re holding onto from the past. Set reasonable boundaries while you respond with kindness when others disappoint you. Pardon yourself too.

Give generously. Sharing your blessings will make you feel good and make someone’s day. So, share your time by volunteering in your community (on or offline), speak kindly to each person you meet, buy a hot beverage for someone. Smile – you can give someone hope.

Empowering Thoughts And Beliefs To Make You Thrive

Thoughts Have Power; Thoughts Are Energy. And You Can Make Your World Or Break It By Your Own Thinking. ~Susan L. Taylor

Take responsibility. You’re in charge of your life. Hold yourself accountable for the outcomes you create and celebrate the fact you have the power to determine your own future.

Apply effort. Figure out your definition of success so you know what is worth working for. Give yourself credit when you make progress, rather than comparing yourself to others.

Leverage your strengths. You have your own individual strengths that you can draw on. ‘What are you good at?’ ‘What do you want to do?’ Let that knowledge guide your choices.

Listen to feedback. Ask for feedback so you can enhance your performance and show others that you respect their point of view. You grow faster when you gather solid input you can translate into action.

Ask for help. Expand your capabilities by building a sturdy support network. Carpool with other parents. Employ the services of a virtual assistant (VA).

Connect with others. Moral support is important. Surround yourself with loving and encouraging family and friends.

Participate in your community. Join a local group, on, or offline and interact with people with shared interest.

Be open to opportunities. Stay alert for promising openings. You may meet a new joint-venture partner while standing in line to buy a Chai Latte.

Take up new Activities. Be open to experimenting. Take time out from playing (fill in the blank) one weekend, and go Latin dancing. You may discover hidden talents, not just new moves.

Employing positive thinking and beliefs increases your happiness and productivity – many studies shows this. However, it’s not always easy, but questioning old assumptions and replacing them with a new sense of certainty about yourself and your desires is a good place to start. And, when you include empowering beliefs and positive thinking, you’ll tame negative thoughts and build your confidence to prepare you for success in your personal and business life.

Start Now.

You’ll be glad you did!

I like these thoughts. Sometimes, however, you just need to let it all out before you’re susceptible to positive affirmations. You know, just mope in your little corner for an hour 😉

Thanks, Tamara and I agree. As noted in the opening of the post, people should acknowledge their feelings and go through the process to heal, before they take steps to up their positive vibrations.

Can’t have negative self talk if one is thinking positive thoughts! Won’t have that continuous loop of self esteem / self confidence blowing voice in the back of one’s mind when one practices any of the tips you mentioned above. Very helpful.

All of these are so important. It can be really hard to let go of the negative self-talk, but I’ve found that making the effort to notice the good in others really helps us to change our internal dialogue.

    Good post!
