What sets entrepreneurs apart is their unique mindset. They’re passionate, dedicated, think outside the ordinary and face their fears to deal with challenges.
These unique traits aren’t something they’re born with, which means, you, too, can learn how to develop the mindset needed to become a successful entrepreneur.
Just like you encounter challenges in your day-to-day life, so, too, you’ll bump into challenges when you start your business.
What to do?
Embrace it.
Doing so allows you to grow. If you’re new to this, take baby steps. Remember the first time you gave a presentation, or, sang in front of your class mates. Chances are, you were terrified, but after a few times, you handled it better, even if you didn’t feel one hundred percent confident. You overcame the fear and learned from the experience.
That’s what successful entrepreneurs do; they use adversity as a learning experience; they analyze failure and figure out what went wrong so that they know what not to do in the future. Mistakes teaches more than successes do.
Entrepreneurs take action, act decisively and focus on solving problems. This is how they’re able to create great products and services. They listen to people to understand the challenges they’re facing, and then get to work on the solutions. A customer facing a problem will happily pay for a product or service that solves their problems.
There’s a saying, “Your network is your net worth.” Entrepreneurs connect with people in different fields. These valuable contacts can offer their expertise to help them or their clients/customers. For this reason, entrepreneurs see networking as a way to build a strong network.
Many of us are used to being paid for our time or what we produce; entrepreneurs, however, take a longer-term view, in that they work towards building a system or systems that generates revenue.
To be a successful entrepreneur, shift your mindset to creating systems that will leverage your time to improve efficiency, which will in turn increase your revenue goals.

Good post. I never knew the entrepreneurial mindset until I became an entrepreneur. I had the mindset all my life, but didn’t connect it. Having punched a clock until I was in my early 50’s, owning a business was never on my mind. But at around 52 years of age I opened my first business and instinctively I knew what to do. Oh sure, I had to learn lots, but I finally understood why my brain was always so eager to make changes in how other businesses worked.
Good for you, Eydie. I strongly believe that many of us would ideally like to have our own business, but we’re geared to follow the 9 to 5 structure and get caught up in the system. We then have to retrain and relearn when we make the decision to go that route. Worth it though, right? 🙂
