As an online business coach, I support emerging biz owners through the startup journey by simplifying the process, often saving them months, even years and money. In addition, I also help established business owners who’ve reached a plateau to fix any revenue leaks and gaps to boost sales.

For the latter, when I work with business owners to establish why they’re unable to scale, I audit with objectivity and, of course, ask pertinent questions, such as, “What are you currently providing to your clients/customers?” This is to ascertain where the gaps are. Thereafter, we establish what value can be added to further benefit clients/customers. I then devise a plan to fix any leaks, and guide them through the action steps. Meaning, we work the plan to grow their business into a profitable entity.

Often, business owners are too close to the many moving parts of their business and can miss how things flow, or don’t flow. Investing in fresh eyes is similar to having a proofreader proof your website copy, or sales copy to correct grammatical errors and typos.

So, if your business has stalled, it’s likely that you have leaks and gaps, which could simply be that you’re not adding more valuable products and, or services to your existing ones. And that’s unfortunate, because there’re many ways to increase your income streams, while still serving your current clients/customers. I’ll cover 3 basic areas that you could implement with little effort to not only support them, but bump up your revenue.

Let’s take a look at each.

Add a tripwire offer to your lead generation

What is a tripwire, you ask. It’s a small, attractive, low-ticket offer, generally between the $5-$50 price range that’s offered to new email subscribers after they’ve opted in via your website, a giveaway, or any other lead generation activity.

The concept is to give a taste of what your offers are, hence, the low price, and this strategy helps to build a buyer/seller relationship and opens the gateway to upsell your core, or other offers.

While you can present more than one offer in your ‘tripwire funnel,’ the basic 2-step tripwire funnel steps are:

You opt in for a free download.

You’re redirected to a ‘thank you’ page (after you’ve entered your name and email), that offers a limited time offer.

Naturally, not everyone will take up the offer. However, tripwires are effective and profitable if you’ve done your homework because they provide something to a targeted audience. To add, you don’t need to have your own product to use as a tripwire, affiliate offers work just as well.

Add upsells in your sales funnel

When upselling is done properly, you’ll provide your clients/customers with additional, faster, and easier ways to get the benefits they’re looking for.

For example, sell a Report on how to do something.

Then provide a software that does that something for them.

And offer a done-for-you solution, where they don’t have to lift a finger.

The strategy is to ensure that your front-end offer 100% deliver on its promise. But, it makes business sense to also offer additional help. For instance, tools to get faster results by doing less work, or giving personal support.

Of course, while the strategy is to encourage people to take advantage of your valuable upsells, the outcome should be that they’ll get their desired result faster and easier and not only because you’ll make more money.

Therefore, be sure to offer relevant upsells that’ll benefit your client/customer and ensure the product or service is congruent to your initial offer.

Add Affiliate Marketing

One of the many wonders of Online business is that it allows everyone to have the same opportunity. Affiliate marketing is one of those opportunities and a business model that I absolutely love.

In its simplest form, as an affiliate, you’re the middle person between online consumers and the vendors/merchant’s products and services.

And you make money (by way of a commission), using an affiliate link for those products and services by promoting to people whom you’ve established are interested. The process is similar to that of recommending a product you’ve bought to a friend or family member. The difference is that you get paid for those recommendations.

Simply sign up for a product/service affiliate program. If accepted, you’ll be given a unique affiliate link to share, which can be done using various means, including, product reviews (text or video) that you can place on your blog, YouTube channel, banner ad on your web page, in eBooks, digital products, email, etc. etc. Also, many social media sites allow affiliate links, while others don’t, So, be sure to review the Terms of Service (TOS) before posting.

Now when people click on your unique link, they’re taken to the product/service page and after they purchase, you get a commission.

In summary, if your business has stalled, it’s likely that you have leaks and gaps and if you were to implement one, or all three of the above and market them consistently, you’ll close those leaks and gaps and see a boost in sales.
