Be clear about your objective

Don’t be vague. Be absolutely clear and precise about what you want. If you’re vague, the problem-solving functions of your brain will get confused and you won’t perform optimally.

Use your resources

Note all the tools and resources you already have at your disposal, that are relevant to your objective. You’d be surprised at how much you have to work with than you realize. For instance, people you know who can assist you in certain areas.

What other resources do you require?

Make a list of everything you’ll need, i.e. a cloud-based storage system that allows you to access files and passwords, etc. Even if you can’t envisage what your life will look like in six months, don’ let that stop you from taking action today. Take a leap, there’s never going to be ‘the’ perfect time. Just get started!

Maintain awareness of your objective

Keep your objective in the forefront of your mind. A simple visualization session once a day will keep it top of mind. Better write it down. There tons of studies on the benefits of writing things done. One being that writing by hand stimulates a part of the brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS). RAS apparently prioritizes what requires immediate focus and what doesn’t.

Ditch perfection

One of the biggest obstacles is the belief that success only comes from being perfect. This belief will paralyze your efforts. Consistent, steady action will get you to your goals way faster than if you strive for perfection.

Make a plan

Avoid waking up each day without knowing how you’re going to spend your day before you go to bed each night. Being intentional provides you with a clear purpose and gives you structure. A simple to-do list will guarantee that you’ll have productive days. “In order to step into the most powerful version of yourself, you need to have clarity of intention,” Oprah says. “You need to know not just what you want, but why you want it.”

Work your plan

Knowing what to do is only half of the puzzle. It’s important to work your plan consistently. Everyone knows how to lose weight, yet there’re many overweight people on the planet. Focus on taking simple, effective actions day after day.

Evaluate your progress

Determine a method to measure your progress and evaluate regularly to establish what’s working and what’s not working. How can you enhance your results? Do you need to take another course of action? Seek to improve your approach based on your evaluations.

Keep going

If you keep working and developing an effective approach, how can you fail? That will only happen if you give up. Enjoy and be proud of the progress you’re making each day. Know that your idea will become a reality.

Success is the result of maintaining focus and taking appropriate action each day. If you don’t quit, failure isn’t an option. Nothing is as exciting as turning an idea into reality.

Recognize your value and trust that your next step is an important one, that will help you create choices and opportunities. So, don’t stay stuck at home silently screaming!
