Email marketing is one of the most effective marketing methods that is used by thousands of small, medium and even large businesses.
However, how you build your relationship with clients/customers, position yourself and your value proposition is fundamental to your email marketing success.
Providing consistent value and honest interaction with your community is what will make it ‘easy’ for you to extend offers via email that converts well.
In this 7-part article series, ‘Boost Your Income By Following Up With Your Customers,’ we’ll cover how to make improvements to your funnel to boost your income.
#3
Article [#1], covered the value of a customer list, ‘Did you know that your customers make up your most valuable business asset?’ and article [#2] talked about, ‘How to create one-time-offers to instantly boost sales.’
This third article will explore, ‘How to make backend sales on autopilot.’
So, how would you like to wake up to sales notifications every morning, or, have them pop into your inbox throughout the day?
Well, you can, with a system that you’ll set up once which will continue to work for you with minimal upkeep.
What is the system? Backend sales as noted in the title.
How does it work? After a customer buys your product/service, she’s redirected to a download page, and ideally, she’ll also receive an email confirming her purchase and download or login information.
These are the first two places you want to utilize to increase sales.
Let’s start with the download page. As mentioned, after purchase, your customer will be rerouted to a download page. But, before sharing the link to download the product (or if it’s a membership site, the login details), present her with another fabulous product offer.
The offer could be something you’ve created, or, it could be an affiliate offer. The important thing is that it’s in line with the original purchase and is packed with valuable information. This is referred to as, backend sales.
Next, include a reminder of the offer in the ‘confirmation purchase and download or login information email’ in case the customer didn’t take up the offer on the download page.
If she still doesn’t buy, continue to place the offer in a few follow up emails, but don’t be pushy. Share some tips on how to get the best results from the product she purchased and use ‘PS’ to mention the additional offer.
If you don’t do anything else, put these two strategies in place; you’ll soon see additional sales come in.
From there the sky is the limit. You can extend the autoresponder sequence your customers receive indefinitely. Create a combination of helpful content to share and offers.
Some of these offers will go out as solo emails, while others work well within the content, or in the P.S. of your emails. The offers can be a combination of your own product offerings and, or, affiliate promotions.
Keep adding to the series of autoresponder emails to expand your “backend” and continue to make more sales per customer.
Remember the minimal upkeep mentioned above? It simply means that you review your autoresponder messages and download pages every few months to ensure the offers you’re promoting are still valid and they’re still a good fit for your target audience.
Take some time to create your back-end sales offer and add it to your download page. Then follow the instructions above for your follow-up emails. It will be time well spent, because you set it up once and let it run on autopilot.

I don’t have a product to sell on my own yet but I am an affiliate of a few companies. This is some good information. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome, Angel. Affiliate products work the same way, so go for it:)
