The old ways of marketing, where you had to place an Ad to attract consumers and make sales are not as effective as they once were. Today, marketing is all about, as Seth Godin says, ‘…attraction and connections.’ But, what tactics create the attraction and connections that get the results that you want, i.e. more sales?
If your strategy isn’t working, you likely need to put into action some marketing tactics. Below are 5 that’ll boost your business.
Create a Responsive Website
Having a mobile friendly website is a must have, as more and more users access the internet via their mobile phones, rather than laptops, desktops and tablets. And to support this, larger screens are available to accommodate users. So, include all the forms of content you use in your business, not only text, but video, podcasts, images, for instance, to give your audience a variety of ways to consume your content. Follow these best practices and you’ll provide a positive experience for your visitors.
Share and Participate on Social Media
When you join social media, be sure to fill out your profile completely and with purpose, meaning, your brand and message are clearly presented. But having a presence is not enough, take action by sharing your content, other people’s content, and participate in discussion threads. If all you do is share your own content, you’ll limit yourself and business. Participation is key to gain visibility so you can attract clients and customers.
Host Events
If you generally participate in online events, such as webinars and live events (post-Covid), consider hosting your own. Live events is a great way to personify yourself to your audience. Interacting with your audience adds that human dimension, as opposed to you just being seen on screen. It’s a fabulous opportunity to foster interpersonal relationships, network and build business relationships that could lead to joint ventures and collaboration. From a quantitative perspective, your business will increase.
Write a Book
Authoring a book is one way to get your message out and gain credibility. With self-publishing an easy barrier of entry, authoring a book to market your core business will stand you in good stead. Ensure, it’s professionally written, edited, formated and distributed on e-book stores, as welll as on your website. Don’t stop there, use a print on demand service (POD), to have print versions that you can also sell. Of course, if publishing traditionally takes your fancy, go that route, too.
Get Listed on a Speakers Bureau
Speaking at events, whether locally, nationally, or internationally is an excellent way to market your business. If this is an area that you feel comfortable in, create a ‘one sheet’ (a brief resume for your speaking experience), and send it to various speaker’s bureaus for groups and organizations, where your audience will attend. You can, of course, charge for your speeches, creating an additional stream of revenue, while marketing your core business.
Execute some or all of the above marketing tactics and you’ll see a huge return from your marketing efforts in a short space of time.
