Not so long ago, I spoke to someone who desperately want (his words not mine) to start an online business. I, naturally, asked him why he didn’t take any action. His response, “I’m worried about failing.” Well, it reminded me of the following quote:

“If You Fail to Plan, You Are Planning to Fail” ~Benjamin Franklin.

No one wants to fail. No one sets out to fail – but when it happens, you learn something. You’ll learn something about your niche market, your product, your offer, etc. but more importantly, you’ll learn something about yourself.

And don’t be afraid to take a chance or to get started. A gazillion reasons will conspire to induce you to throw in the towel before you even start.

Ignore them!

Further, don’t focus on what could go wrong vs. what could go right. For some odd reason, we humans are hard-wired that way. When you feel trapped in your head, tune into your five senses, sight, smell, taste, hearing and touch. Doing so will help to quiet your mind so you don’t feel paralyzed.

Failure is temporary, but the lessons you learn will serve you throughout your life.

Make a plan. Work it. Take action.

Text that reads - be brave enough to suck at something new

That was my pep talk to Mr. Someone.

Here’s an article I came across on lifehack.org on 10 things you can learn from Michael Jordon, deemed one of the greatest basketball player of all time, and who failed many, many times. But he never allowed failure to deter him, and neither should you. You’ve got this.

“Be brave enough to suck at something new.” To be brave; the ability to endure and the courage to continue when the going gets rough. Finding the fortitude can be tough but success dictates that one must dig deep to reach that part of oneself that does not allow one to quit.

Indeed, Jen, fortitude can be tough, but it’s what test our resolve. Thanks for commenting.
